Dance Marathons are year-long efforts to fundraise for local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals that culminate in one night main events across the nation, the night of Dance Marathon. There are over 150 universities across the country who raise money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in their communities and host a Dance Marathon. Last year alone, college Dance Marathons raised over 6 million dollars for Children’s Miracle Network hospitals.

Saint Louis University’s Dance Marathon supports the famous slogan, “we stand for those who can’t,” where students will stand for the entire 12 hours of the main event as an act of solidarity for the children treated by the hospitals. All of the money raised benefits the Children’s Miracle Network of Greater St. Louis, which is equally distributed to St. Louis Children’s Hospital and SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center. Over those 12 hours students will learn a fun dance, play games, listen to entertainment acts, and interact with the kids and their families who have been treated at these local hospitals.  It is a great way for SLU students to join with kids in a fun and safe environment, and while Dance Marathon is an invaluable experience for dancers, it is ultimately “for the kids.”
